Assignment : pick another image from a book from the library and critique using elements of photography discussed.

This photo catches my eye because of the high value contrast in it.  It makes you happy and feel warm like your outside in the sunlight.  The lighting in this picture is my favorite.  It is clearly coming from behind her, but you cant actually see the source of the light.  It makes you wonder.  The leaves in the upper right hand corner make the picture have a better composition than if it was simply marilyn and the bird.

Week 4

Choose one photo from the photography monograph you have. Evaluate that one photo for all 12 criteria from our list. In what areas is this photo strong? Explain what is weak? What would you do to improve the photo if you could?

I think the areas in this photo that are strong are the angle, focus, composition, and lighting.  I think what i need to work on is more interesting subjects and thinking more about catching the eye of the viewer.  The photo also isn't pushing any barriers, and i think to have an interesting photo you need to do some of that.  The lighting i like, but i need to fix the white balance to make the light look less yellow.

Portraits

Week 2 writing assignment

Did it feel uncomfortable to be photographed? If so, why? Describe if there was a moment when the mood, your relationship or your comfort being photographed shifted?

I wasn't that comfortable being photographed.  I am a very shy person and don't like to be the center of attention, so i think that was my downfall.  I think as we got farther into the assignment it got a little easier to let loose and just go for it.
How can you help someone feel more comfortable when you are photographing?

I think you could make someone feel more comfortable by picking up a conversation, and making the person laugh.
